10 rooms and restaurant space
The Arts District could be adding a small, boutique hotel to its ever-expanding roster of real estate developments. The 10-room hotel at Seventh Street and Santa Fe Avenue would include retail and restaurant space and be housed inside a handsome old firehouse, says Urbanize LA. Plans for the project were filed yesterday.
According to city records, the two-story structure was built in 1928. A LoopNet listing puts the space at 8,721 square feet, and notes that it has 10 on-site parking spaces and 30 off-site.
The structure is described as a “currently being convert[ed] into restaurant/nightclub space” on the website for Engine Real Estate, the company that owns the space. Some of Engine’s other properties are in Highland Park, including the building that used to house Frank’s Camera.
This is not the first adaptive reuse boutique hotel project planned for the Arts District. There’s another proposed for the corner of Alameda and Fourth that aims to bring 66 rooms to the continuously upscaling neighborhood.
