Neighborhood Spotlight: Great Neighborhoods for Families in Los Angeles

Los Angeles is comprised of nearly 300 neighborhoods[1], which makes the decision of where to buy your family home all the more daunting.  By way of this article, which is the first in a series of “Neighborhood Spotlight” installments, we hope to share some insight into the various neighborhoods in LA and recommend what we believe are the best for you and your family.

  1. Beverly Hills

While Beverly Hills is one of the most expensive neighborhoods in Los Angeles, it is also one of the very best for families.  This beautiful city boasts an excellent school district, clean and well-maintained streets and parks, a high walkability score[2], and one of the lowest crime rates in Los Angeles[3].  Filled with the best restaurants and shopping this nation has to offer, Beverly Hills is full of happy and friendly people, making it one of the best neighborhood choices for you and your family.

  1. Hancock Park

This exclusive neighborhood boasts charm, style, affluence and history.  Home to the Hollywood elite, this area offers some of the most awe-inducing mansions and sprawling tree-lined streets in all of Los Angeles.  (Trust us – just take a walk up McCadden from Wilshire to Melrose!)  Hancock Park shares a border with Larchmont Village, which is filled with restaurants, specialty clothing boutiques, coffee shops, and dessert shops.[4]  With a low crime rate, friendly community, great schools, and stunning architecture, Hancock Park is a fantastic option for your family.

  1. Miracle Mile

Widely known for its famous “Museum Row” and dubbed “America’s Champs Élysées”[5], Miracle Mile is a neighborhood filled with culture, art, business and young families.  Miracle Mile is an affordable option for many first-time homebuyers (and renters).  It is family-friendly, offering many restaurants and museums (the LACMA, the La Brea Tar Pits, and the Automotive Museum, to name a few) within walking distance.  With a low crime rate and highly rated schools[6], Miracle Mile is an excellent location for your family home.

Our recommendations are based on neighborhood statistics and local recommendations.  PSL Realty always recommends that you visit your preferred neighborhood to ensure that it meets all of your requirements in terms of safety, schools and family living.  Please stay tuned for our next installment of “Neighborhood Spotlight”.
