Luxury apartments rise next to Capitol Records building

Behind the wavy facade, 114 apartments with a great view

When completed, the fancy apartments inside this 18-story tower at Argyle Avenue and Yucca Street in Hollywood will have great views of the landmark Capitol Records building directly to the west.

The tower, developed by Related California and designed by Large Architecture, has been under construction since last summer. The wavy exterior of the building shown in previous renderings is taking shape.

Previous reports said the complex would feature a fifth-floor terrace with a dog run and a large catering kitchen. The complex will also have an underground parking garage.

Related bought the property for $ 10.5 million in the spring of 2015. The prior owner had different plans—a complex with condos and office space called 6230 Yucca—but encountered problems because of the property’s proximity to what a state map indicated was an earthquake fault.

In 2014, after digging a few exploratory trenches, city officials and the 6230 Yucca developer determined there wasn’t a fault under the project after all. The owners sold to Related the following year.

The project under construction now is called 1755 Argyle. It’s scheduled to be complete in 2018.
